Alexandre Arrechea — More Beautiful Than Silence Sculptural Wooden Hammer x Kreëmart Editions
Created for Kreëmart’s immersive event at CIFO during Art Basel Miami 2015,More Beautiful Than Silence by Alexandre Arrechea transforms the act of sound into an experience of memory, restraint, and metaphor.
Each sculptural wooden hammer is signed and edition-stamped, drawing on Arrechea’s fascination with tools of action and their conceptual potential. Here, the hammer becomes both an object and a gesture—its weight evoking the presence of a sound never made, yet somehow remembered.
Through a series of evocative written phrases embedded in sugar-filled boxes, guests were invited to strike, taste, or simply reflect—blurring the line between silence and sound, destruction and memory.
Part of the Kreëmart Editions series, this limited piece captures the poetic friction between force and stillness, inviting us to consider: can silence speak louder than noise?
